I. Job Summary
Join our team as a Landfill Gas Energy Plant Technician, where you'll take the lead in managing a state-of-the-art Landfill Gas to Energy Facility. Your role is crucial in maximizing production, ensuring safety, maintaining environmental compliance, and overseeing timely maintenance. As a key player, you'll operate as the plant owner and be available whenever needed to meet the facility's goals.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To excel in this role, you will undertake the following responsibilities:

  • Evaluate operational data thoroughly to plan effective strategies, manage production capacity, and reduce operating expenses while minimizing equipment downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with all operational air permit requirements, including tracking CYCLE tasks, documenting procedures, performing emissions tests, and adjusting equipment to meet emission limits.
  • Coordinate and manage third-party vendors for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, ensuring smooth communication with the Market Area Gas Operations Manager and WMRE Operations Manager.
  • Act as the primary contact for power and gas purchasers, ensuring compliance with various agreements related to facility operations.
  • Inspect, repair, maintain, and service all plant equipment according to Standard Operating Procedures and maintenance manuals, demonstrating expertise in handling unexpected repairs.
  • Implement and uphold WM and WMRE safety policies and practices during all work activities.
  • Complete all mandatory safety and operational training assigned by your supervisor.
  • Procure plant supplies and equipment efficiently, monitoring needs and managing vendors while adhering to budget guidelines.
  • Respond promptly to plant shutdown calls during non-business hours, diagnosing and rectifying issues to restore operations while consulting with management as necessary.
  • Identify backup staff in coordination with the WMRE regional manager, ensuring at least one plant manager is available 24/7/365 for emergencies.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of spare parts, providing written counts twice a year.
  • Conduct plant tours to foster good community relations and act as the on-site technical expert on renewable energy production.
  • Engage with the public in forums to support business development and community education, cultivating relationships with key stakeholders in the region.
  • Complete special tasks as directed by WMRE Operations Manager or Market Area Gas Operations Manager.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory duties.

IV. Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
  • Experience: 5 years of relevant experience in diagnosing and repairing internal combustion engines and cooling systems.

V. Certifications, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
Must possess a valid driver’s license.

VI. Skills and Abilities Required

  • Proficient in computer data entry and analysis.
  • Ability to manage fiduciary responsibilities effectively.
  • Capability to lift at least 100 lbs.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% for overnight stays.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair DC circuits (12/24 volts).
  • Basic knowledge of AC circuits (120/240/480 3-phase) and understanding of concepts involving 4160-volt circuits.
  • Familiarity with basic principles of building maintenance.

The expected salary range for this position is $65,700 - $96,370, with eligibility for an annual incentive plan bonus.
