General Summary of Position

The Imaging Clinical Engineer II plays a crucial role under the guidance of the Clinical Engineering leadership team. This position is focused on the installation, testing, maintenance, calibration, and repair of advanced medical equipment and systems. The engineer will ensure optimal functioning of clinical equipment through meticulous management while adhering to the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Respond to advanced support requests, diagnosing and resolving issues related to complex medical imaging systems with a commitment to excellent service.
  • Conduct regular maintenance checks according to planned schedules, ensuring all equipment operates smoothly and efficiently.
  • Manage inventory of parts: ordering, receiving, inspecting, and testing equipment while documenting results accurately.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and testing of medical equipment to verify safety and performance before use.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all work performed in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), ensuring documentation is up-to-date and precise.
  • Provide timely communication to team members about the status of equipment repairs and technical support, ensuring effective collaboration.
  • Deliver training and in-service education to staff regarding the proper use of patient care equipment as needed.
  • Support compliance with Joint Commission standards and applicable regulations as outlined in the department/unit operations manual.
  • Keep work areas organized and clean, promoting a safe and efficient environment for staff and patients.
  • Proactively suggest improvements to workflows and contribute to policy development to enhance departmental efficiency.
  • Assist in the training and development of junior technicians on equipment use and protocols.
  • Research potential new medical equipment and aid in installation and initial inspections while managing the associated paperwork.
  • Schedule and execute preventive maintenance on medical devices, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Act as a liaison between Clinical Engineering and other departments focused on medical equipment functionality.
  • Assist in budget monitoring and operational costs, collaborating with management to evaluate new technologies.
  • Oversee vendor activities during equipment installations, ensuring collaborative efforts within multidisciplinary teams.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

  • Associate's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related field, or relevant military training.

Experience

  • 3-4 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of diagnostic imaging technologies.

Licenses and Certifications

  • CBET - Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician or actively pursuing certification, expected to achieve within 2 years.
  • CRES - Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist or actively pursuing certification, expected to achieve within 2 years.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage assignments effectively.
  • Proficient in data entry and computer software applications.
  • Willingness to travel between multiple sites to maintain imaging systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to engage with various stakeholders.
  • Understanding of basic electrical and electronics principles as well as hospital operations.
  • Familiar with word processing, spreadsheets, and database management.
  • Commitment to delivering excellent customer service.
  • Skilled in using specialized hand tools and testing equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
  • Awareness of accreditation requirements from regulatory agencies.

This position has a hiring range of $33.86 - $63.13.
